Subjects of Learning

The CIS Curriculum aims to empower young people to achieve their potential and to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives. The learning opportunities provided should help young people to develop as individuals, contributors to society and contributors to the economy and environment.

Communication

Communication is one of the three Cross-Curricular Skills at the heart of the curriculum. Developing children’s communication skills enables them to express themselves socially, emotionally and physically, develop as individuals, engage with others and contribute as members of society.

Language and Literacy

Language and Literacy is an Area of Learning in the curriculum. It focuses on developing children’s language and literacy skills. These enable children to interact effectively in the world around them, express themselves creatively and communicate confidently.

Personal Development and Mutual Understanding

Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU) is an Area of Learning in the primary curriculum. It focuses on encouraging children’s emotional and social development, confidence, independence, and health and safety awareness, and on developing their moral thinking, values and actions.

Using Mathematics

Using Mathematics is one of the three Cross-Curricular Skills at the heart of the curriculum. It is the skill of applying mathematical concepts, processes and understanding appropriately in different contexts. Ideally, teachers will use relevant, real-life situations that require mathematical thinking.

Mathematics and Numeracy

Mathematics and Numeracy is an Area of Learning in the curriculum. It gives children a wider understanding of how the world around them works and prepares them for making decisions, solving problems and processing everyday information.

Physical Education

Communication is one of the three Cross-Curricular Skills at the heart of the curriculum. Developing children’s communication skills enables them to express themselves socially, emotionally and physically, develop as individuals, engage with others and contribute as members of society.

Using ICT

Using ICT is one of the three Cross-Curricular Skills at the heart of the curriculum. Developing children’s digital skills encourages them to handle and communicate information, solve problems, pose questions and be creative in using digital technology.

Religious Education

Covenant uses the UK National Curriculum, and uses resources from Northern Ireland Curriculum. It focuses on encouraging children to become informed and inquisitive about their own and others’ religious beliefs and practices.

The Arts

The Arts is an Area of Learning in the curriculum. It has three strands: Art and Design, Drama, and Music. The Arts develops children’s creativity and encourages them to express their ideas, feelings and interpretations of the world through pictures, sound, drama and dance.

Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities

All parts of the curriculum emphasise the development of Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities. These skills help pupils to think critically and creatively. They also help them to develop personal and interpersonal skills and dispositions that are essential for functioning effectively in a changing world.

The World Around Us

The World Around Us is an Area of Learning in the primary curriculum. It encourages children’s natural curiosity and answers some of their questions about the world from the perspectives of Geography, History, and Science and Technology.

This school is not only guiding our children to grow in knowledge, but is also helping them to mature spiritually, socially, and physically in balance. It is very often heard that children are enjoying their time at school. We introduce this school for parents searching for international schools, and we hope to keep doing so.

The best part of PAIS are the teachers, sports and their friends. For me what's most special about PAIS is the teacher's love for God and the students.   The love and guidance our children receive from their teachers in their studies and in the development of their personalities are remarkable.   We feel peaceful and grateful our children are in the good hands of their teachers both professionally and personally.

As a Christian parent, I want my child to grow both spiritually and academically, and yes, I chose PAIS. I have been so impressed with all the learning performances and resources from the school. I am very pleased to see my child is taught in a loving, caring and educational Christian atmosphere. A big applause and massive thanks to the teachers who are nurturing and supporting my child to improve his learning and confidence. Your expertise in teaching has put my mind at ease. The academics are exceptional and the teaching methods and approaches are excellent as they are using direct methods (Teaching English Through English). This is a great school that my child loves and has come on lots since starting this school.
